Anthony Bourdain To Open Taco Bell Franchises

Crunch Wrap Supreme

Taco Bell introduced their newest celebrity franchise owner late this week. Anthony Bourdain, the world traveling food connoisseur, has agreed to open a total of ten locations with the first one slated to be in Palm Beach Florida. “I simply fell in love with their menu” says Bourdain as he talked about his latest venture. “I’ve always been fond of ethnic foods, and to me, there is nothing better than a Chalupa with extra sour cream and a packet of Fire Sauce. It’s crunchy, creamy and has that extra ‘bite’ that really drives the flavor home. I crave them every time I’m on the road, it’s the first thing I have when I get back to the States.”

Bourdain is not the first celebrity chef to venture off and enter the restaurant business. Others such as Guy Fieri, Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse also run restaurants of their own. Bourdain, however, is the first to become a franchise owner of a fast food brand. Bourdain said that he fully expects to come under fire for his decision, however he welcomes the challenge.

“Look, at the end of the day, it’s all about the food. I find that they are the most innovative restaurant out there today, and I’m proud to be a part of their ever growing family.”

He wasn’t shy about criticizing his counterparts either and he even delivered a few blows aimed at one of his favorite targets, Guy Fieri. “There are only so many ways to cook a Hamburger. They’ve all been done before and you don’t have to go down to ‘Flavor Town’ to get one.”

“What really sets Taco Bell a part from all of the other restaurants out there today is their willingness to take a culinary chance. I respect that from them, and it has worked wonders. Who in their right mind would have ever thought about making a taco shell from a giant Dorito? And then follow that up with a Cool Ranch version as well? It’s unparallelled in the industry, and I wanted to be part of this.”

Look for his first franchise to open later this year with the others to follow shortly thereafter. “I want to expand overseas next. I am looking forward to introduce the Taco Bell brand to all four corners of the world, because I know the world wants this to happen. It’s a beautiful thing.”
